CCSO authorities on Tuesday said the Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled that Darren Decker, 42, died from asphyxiation caused by hanging himself with a bed sheet.

A 42-year-old Ocala man accused of committing two murders, in Marion and Citrus counties, died Thursday in a Citrus County hospital after he was taken there from the Citrus County Corrections Facility.

According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Darren Decker died not long after he arrived at Seven Rivers Hospital.

Bank robbery suspect wanted

A warrant has been issued for Brent Edward Bevil, 38, of Homosassa who is wanted for felony armed robber.

The Sheriff's Office said Bevil robbed the Bank of America off US 19 in Homosassa Friday afternoon. He is homeless, and is believed to still be in the Homosassa area, deputies aay.


Boats kill record number of Florida manatees in 2016

Statewide, at least 6,250 manatees were counted in waterways across the state last year, in an aerial survey the FWC and its partners conducted. The counts are conducted during cold snaps, when water temperatures drop.

In early January, the Pacific Legal Foundation, a group representing a Citrus County-based group advocating for property rights and quality of life, announced plans to sue if the Fish and Wildlife Service does not announce its decision within 60 days.
