Lecanto gas station robbed

Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the robbery today of the Chevron gas station in Lecanto.

The CCSO says a black male entered the station at 5 p.m. at 2205 W. Norvell Bryant Highway.


Monday's bomb scare appears due to computer glitch

A computer malfunction is thought to be the cause of a bomb scare on Monday in Inverness.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office reports that just before 8:30 a.m., dispatchers received a call that a computer at Inverness Medical Imaging (2105 Highway 44 W.) had displayed a message that alleged someone had brought a bomb in.

Crystal River shooting case sent to State Attorney's Office

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday turned over the case involving a Dec. 14 shooting in Crystal River to the State Attorney's Office (SAO).

The victim – Larry Henriquez, 30, of Orange Park, Fla. – went to 2790 N. Reynolds Ave. in Crystal River, where an argument ensued. Henriquez knew the shooter, identified as Richard Carroll, 41, who is also the homeowner.

Henriquez was shot during the argument, and was later transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.

Hunt still on for escaped Citrus County prisoner

Escaped inmate Terry DavisCitrus County Sheriff's Office detectives continue to follow up on leads regarding escaped inmate Terry Davis, who fled on Dec. 22 while in the custody of a CCSO detective.


Bomb scare in Inverness doesn't pan out

Citrus Daily has learned there was some kind of a bomb scare at 9 a.m. today at Inverness Medical Imaging.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office blocked off the building with patrol cars, and the fire department was staged at the automotive dealership next door, our source reported. Occupants of the building were released.

CCSO spokeswoman Heather Yates confirmed there had been a scare, but said it didn't amount to much. Citrus Daily is awaiting a report of the incident.
