Beverly Hills man sentenced to five years for drugs

Kasda Atkins, 34, of Beverly Hills, was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections after pleading no contest to Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell/Deliver, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell, and Possession of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, commonly known as Molly or Ecstasy) by Judge Ric Howard. 

Cooling fan failure causes reroute of 911 center

The failure of a cooling fan on Sunday caused an equipment failure when it didn't come on when it should have.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said on Monday that the incident impacted the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center's call Center in Lecanto.
The CCSO had a backup plan for just such an emergency, the Sheriff's Office said. The 911 call center opened up a backup 911 center until the problem was resolved.

CCSO apprehends Homosassa robbery suspect (updated)

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has apprehended a female suspect in connection with a Homosassa robbery that occurred on Friday night.

The warrant had been issued earlier for Tiffany S. Rosier, 47, a black female, who was believed to be armed.


Missing Floral City toddler found in dense brush

Lainey Bramlett, 3, was lost but now is found. (CCSO photo on January 28, 2017)
What began with a search on Saturday ended with a find as deputies and volunteers scoured a densely wooded Floral City area for a missing 3-year-old girl.
Lainey Brammlett was playing on an electronic four-wheeler with her family on several acres of property at 9891 E.

Citrus County makes investment in tourism

The Citrus County Commission has raised the county’s 3 percent Tourism Development Tax (TDT) to 5 percent

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) made a big investment in tourism this week.

Commissioners voted on Tuesday to raise the county’s current 3 percent Tourism Development Tax (TDT) to 5 percent.
