Sheriff's Office looking for Internet cafes robbers

DUNNELLON -- The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is looking for three suspects who held up two different Internet cafes and their patrons at gunpoint on Saturday night on Dunnellon Road.

The robberies occurred at about 9 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said on Sunday.

Home invasion suspect, accomplice arrested

A home invasion suspect and his alleged accomplice were arrested on Thursday in Sumter County.

Arrested were Mandy Duncan, 27, of Beverly Hills, and Dustin Spangler, 30, of Hernando, who were both charged in connection with the Oct. 10 home invasion in Citrus Hills.

Spngler and Duncan are facing charges of home invasion and battery on a person 65 years of age or older. The pair was taken into custody by Sumter County deputies after a Citrus County Sheriff's Office investigation into a home invasion led straight to him.

Campbell sentenced to 25 years

John Carson Campbell, 30, of Homosassa, has been sentenced to a total of 25 years in the Department of Corrections for aggravated battery w/ a deadly weapon, robbery- strong arm, and aggravated assault w/ a deadly weapon.

This was following guilty verdicts from a Jury Trial in Judge Ric Howard's courtroom from a prior date. Campbell was convicted of beating a man with a handgun in 2015, causing serious injuries.

Sheriff's Office advises Hernando residents to lock up

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is advising Hernando's residents there have been an increase in property-related crimes off of Hwy 41 in Hernando in the area of Dearborn Drive and Overdrive Circle.

The suspects are targeting sheds, vehicles, RVs and residences during the early morning and afternoon hours.

Home inversion supect captured in Sumter County

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said on Thursday that Charges will be forthcoming and will be released on Friday.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office continues to focus on drugs being sold from homes.

The CCSO Tactical Impact Unit on Thursday announced two more people who were arrested in separate investigations of drug sales allegedly made at their residences.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office Tactical Impact Unit served two unrelated search warrants on Monday in reference to drug sales from residences within Citrus County.

The alleged sales took place in Inverness and Beverly Hills, the CCSO said.

Sheriff Dawsy honored by county commission

Retiring Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy on Tuesday was formally recognized by the county commission for his years of service to the county.

He was honored during a special time of the meeting with a plaque, with the thanks of county commissioners.

Floral City man faces sexual battery charge

Bobby Joe Greene, 56, of Floral City, has been arrested and charged with sexual battery on an 8-year-old boy.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said on Friday that once detectives received a tip about the alleged offense, they worked literally around the clock until an arrest was made.

According to Greene's arrest report, the boy was under Greene's care. The boy is said to have told several of his relatives that Greene sexually abused him.

During a forensic interview with child services, the boy said Greene sodomized him.

The man who police say robbed the Ormond Beach Wal-Mart, then stole a teenager's car at gunpoint, was shot four times by a Citrus County deputy in 2012 after the law enforcement officer said Nicholas Dinovo grabbed a gun from his waistband.

On Oct. 10, 2016 at approximately 9 p.m., a home invasion was reported to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.

A warrant has been issued for white male suspect Dustin Ray Spangler. Spangler is 5’8” tall, approximately 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Homosassa home heavily damaged by fire

A Homosassa home on Thursday suffered extensive damage from a fire that appears to have started in the attic.

There were no injuries reported.

Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Division of Fire Rescue responded at 10:31 a.m. to the structure fire at 6154 W. Monticello St. in Homosassa.

'No Bullying' month observed in October

An estimated 200 people on Wednesday gathered together at the Historic Courthouse in Inverness to show their unity against bullying.

Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives have captured Michael Todd Marcum, 36, of Crystal River, regarding an incident that occurred Sunday morning around 9 a.m. at the B&B RV Park at 5096 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy in Lecanto.

Deputies make 3 Beverly Hills drug arrests

Three people were arrested on Thursday during a search warrant served at a Beverly Hills home.

The Sheriff's Office SWAT team served the warrant at 9 S. Desoto St. after an investigation into narcotic sales allegedly occurring at the residence.

The search yielded several types of narcotics packaged for sale, along with a loaded .410-gauge shotgun. The main suspect of the investigation was Terry Gaitor, 45, who is a convicted felon with more than 60 prior arrests.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect in a Monday home invasion in Citrus Springs.

The CCSO was called out to the residence at about 9 p.m., and the femal victim told deputies that a male suspect forced his way into the home and robbed her.

Goodbye Matthew: Local weather warnings canceled

Citrus County is no longer under a tropical storm warning. 

Hurricane Matthew continues to track north, away from Citrus County. 

While the county will still continue to get rain and some wind from Matthew's rain band, the impact to Citrus County will continue to get lower and lower as the day progresses.

With that, this is the last update for Hurricane Matthew.  The Citrus County Emergency Operations Center will be going back to a Level 3 Monitoring Status. 

All shelters have been closed, and citizens Information Lines are now closed.
