Budget work continues, bills move forward

Greetings from Tallahassee!

With the completion of Week 5 of the Legislative Session, we have reached the halfway point.

This week, work continued on the budget as the Appropriations Committee considered the budget proposal which was released last week. I am proud to support this budget, which increases funding to our teachers, to our state workers, and for our students.

All of this is accomplished while not raising any taxes, fees, or tuition.

Just as our constituents must do each and every day, Florida must balance its budget and live within its means. I look forward to continuing to work on this proposal with my colleagues in the House of Representatives as Session continues.

Also this week, I was pleased to move several of my bills through their committees of reference and also to pass Senate Bill 244 through the Senate.

Senate Bill 244 requires water management districts to work together on projects, while the other bills dealt with topics such as protecting our veterans, and ensuring our law enforcement officers have access to accurate information when conducting investigations.

As always, it is my honor to serve you in the Florida Senate.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of service to you.

Sen. Charles S. Dean
