YMCA wins bid for daycare

The Citrus County School Board on Tuesday awarded the bid for before- and after-school care to YMCA of the Suncoast.

The arrangement will begin at the start of the new school year for elementary school students.

The other organization competing for the contract was Alpha Best Education Inc., which scored slightly lower in the rated area of proposed services in the school board's scoring system. The YMCA of the Suncoast scored 100 out of 100 possible points, and Alpha Best Education scored a total of 93 points out of 100 points.

Care before school starts at 6:30 a.m., and after-school care concludes at 6 p.m. Services will be available for half days, spring and winter break and Thanksgiving.

The financial impact to the school district was set at $110,000.
