Kenney ousted, Webb defeated in commission races

The Citrus County Commission race on Tuesday saw Commissioner John "JJ" Kenney unseated by former Crystal River Mayor Ron Kitchen in the District 2 race.

And in the District 4 race, former Commissioner Winn Webb, who had stepped down earlier in a bid for the Citrus County Sheriff's job, was also a primary election victim, as county voters showed they preferred his opponent Scott Carnahan.

In November, Kitchen will face Michael “Joey” White, who has no party affiliation.

Susan Gill, Citrus County Supervisor of elections, reports there are 96, 286 registered voters in Citrus County.

A total of 27,351 votes were cast. In addition, she said, voter turnout was 28.41 percent. Below are the preliminary numbers, as recorded by the Citrus County Supervisor of Elections office for Citrus County only.
