Mobile home burns in Hernando

Firefighters logoNo injuries were reported during a mobile home fire on Monday in Hernando.
 
Citrus Sheriff Fire Rescue on Friday was dispatched to the structure fire at 7139 N. Nature Trail, where they found a single-wide mobile home with fire and smoke showing.
 
The structure was fully involved with fire. 
 
A defensive attack was initiated after home was confirmed unocupied.

Deputies looking for bank robbery suspect

The BB&T bank at U.S.19 and South Venable in Crystal River is currently closed due to a robbery at about 4 p.m., the Citrus County Sheriff's Office reported on Wednesday.

The suspect went into the bank and demanded money from the teller. He fled on foot, and possibly got into the vehicle pictured below.

He is described as a white male in his late 20's or early 30's who, at the time of the robbery, was wearing dark pants, black hoodie and a black ball cap and sunglasses. He was last seen running toward Beall's Department Store in Crystal River.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency in the state as rapidly growing Hurricane Irma, now a Category 4 storm, is expected to make landfall later this week.

Smoke alarms awaken Dunnellon resident just in time

Smoke DetectorWorking smoke alarms are credited with helping a Dunnellon resicent and her dog escape injury early Monday morning after a fire broke out in their home.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
Firefighters on Monday were called to the scene of a residential home fire at 2:59 a.m. at 4171 West Ranchetta St.

Construction accident temporarily halts work on Halls River Bridge

A truck interrupted work on Thursday on the Halls River Bridge in Homosassa.
 
For the majority of the day, the construction-related accident made the bridge completely impassable. 
 
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office had to use other resources, such as launching boats from the fire departments, to ensure emergency services were available to those in need.
