Commission passes tentative budget in 3-2 vote

The Citrus County Commission on Thursday passed the tentative budget for 2016-17 by a 3-2 vote.

Voting against the tentative budget were commissioners Dennis Damato and Scott Adams.

The tentative budget is $255,378,772 or a 1.75% increase from 2015/2016 budget of $250,983,322. The final vote will be held on at 5:01 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the commission chambers at 110 N. Apopka Ave. in Inverness.

The countywide budget includes Library Services, Fire Taxing District, Fire Rescue/EMS MSTU (Municipal Services Taxing Unit), and Stormwater MSTU.

TENTATIVE MILLAGE NUMBERS:

  • General Fund: (6.6738 in Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 and 6.5685 in FY 2016-17)
  • Transportation: (0.6976 in FY 2015-16 and 0.6858 in FY 2016-17)
  • Health Department: (0.0840 in FY 2015-16 and 0.0776 in FY 2016-17)
  • Total Countywide: (7.4554 in FY 2015-16 and 7.3319 in FY 2016-17

Special Districts:

  • Library Services: (Unchanged from FY 2015-16 at 0.3333
  • Fire Taxing District: (Unchanged from FY 2015-15 at 0.0000)
  • Fire MSTU: (0.5768 in FY 2015-16 and 0.5645 in FY 2016-17)
  • Stormwater MSTU: (Unchanged from FY 2015-16 at 0.1000)
  • Total Special Districts: (1.0101 in 2015-16 and 0.9978 in FY 2016-17)

Total Proposed Tentative Millage: (8.4655 in FY 2015-16 and 8.3297 in FY 2016-17)
