Garage fire claims family vehicle

An early morning fire in a garage attached to a Pine Ridge home was destroyed in the early morning hours.

Citrus County Sheriff Fire Rescue was dispatched at 3:47 a.m. to 3163 W. Daffodil Drive to put out the fire.

Pine Ridge Engine 20 arrived on scene at 3:54 a.m., where they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage. An aggressive, offensive attack was started by fire crews, and the fire was extinguished at 4:08 a.m.

The extent of the damage to the residence was limited to the garage, and some smoke damage was done to the rest of the residence.

Apparatus from Citrus Springs, DeRosa and Connell Heights also assisted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not suspicious. The occupants were able to identify that there was an issue and quickly called firefighters. There were two adults and two children living in the house.

There were no injuries. Damage to the home was estimated at 25 percent, and a vehicle that had been in the garage was a total loss.
