The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday reported that Emergency personnel were on scene of a shooting and house fire at  7089 Gilbert Terrace in Lecanto Gilbert Terrace, off Cardinal Lane in Homosassa.

Just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the CCSO received a call about a shooting that had just occurred at the residence.

The caller said they were with two male victims in the vehicle, and were heading to Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. The truck, which was heading eastbound on State Road 44 near the landfill, finally pulled over and deputies, along with Nature Coast EMS, arrived on scene to assist the victims.

Within minutes, the CCSO Communications center began to receive calls about a house fire at the same location on Gilbert Terrace where the gunshot victims told deputies they came from. Citrus County Fire Rescue, along with deputies arrived at the home on Gilbert Terrace to find a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

While Fire Rescue handled the house fire, deputies combed the area and interview neighbors about what they witnessed..

At this time, the Sheriff's Office victim information is limited, but investigators said they believe this incident was isolated to this residence. The CCSO also said they felt residents are in not in any danger.

Both victims are being treated for gunshot wounds, and detectives are waiting to talk with both of them to get more accurate information. Right now, the CCSO forensics team is on scene working in conjunction with the State Fire Marshal's Office.
