Homosassa man killed after crashing into billboard sign

The Florida Highway patrol says a Homosassa man was killed on Saturday after his vehicle struck a billboard sign and he was ejected.
 
The man has been identified as Wilmer Hager, 29.
 
The Florida Highway Patrol said that the incident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. The FHP incident report says Hager was driving westbound on Norvell Bryant Highway at high speeds when he lost control of his vehicle just east of the entrance to the Brentwood Subdivision..
 
The FHP said Her's 2004 Lincoln left the roadway and crashed into a large wooden billboard sign and overturned several times. He was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.  He was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP.
 
It’s unclear why he lost control of the vehicle, the FHP incident report said. Authorities have said the incident was not alcohol-related.
