Snow, toboggan ride coming to Homosassa park

Imported snow at state park.The eight–evening event is scheduled for the evenings of Dec. 18 through Christmas Eve and then will be open again on the evening of Dec. 26.

The park will reopen at 5:30 pm on these evenings and remain open until 9 pm. This event is one of the ways this citizen support organization and the park give back to the community for all of its support throughout the year. Everyone is invited to come out to the park to relax and enjoy the holiday season.

Holiday lights, decorations and music will create the perfect setting for the Wildlife Park’s holiday wonderland. This year is the park’s 20th anniversary as a Florida State Park, and we are taking this opportunity to invite you to take a walk down Memory Lane with a special screening of photos from the early days of the attraction to the present day. The program will be presented on a big screen in the Garden Pavilion.

A donation of $2.00 for adults and $1 for children ages 6 through 12 is suggested. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free. On Christmas Eve, donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for We Care Food bank in lieu of a financial donation.

The Miss L-Toe Café will be set up in the Garden of the Springs with a selection of tasty holiday treats for sale. The park’s Wildside Café will also be open the evenings of the event.

A variety of entertainments will be provided nightly from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Professional DJ Joe Dube will be coordinating and presenting the holiday music. Nightly entertainment will be followed by a holiday party in the Garden from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. You may dance under the starry lights or sit back, relax, listen and enjoy.

On Friday, Dec. 18, the opening night of the Celebration of Lights, Debbie Cole’s School of the Dance will be performing.  The popular Hearts to Hands Deaf Choir will entertain on Saturday evening, December 19.

Enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Beverly Hills Community Church’s Chime Choir on Sunday evening, Dec. 20. Discover the talents of several local performers at Monday (Dece. 21) night’s Homosassa’s Got Talent show. Cindy Brieske, Vicky Iozzia, Patrice Jacobs and Sophie Robitaile will be performing.

Let it snow

Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Animals will be arriving on Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, and will return on Wednesday evening, Dec. 23. On the evening of Dec. 22 there were also be six tons of snow and a toboggan slide.

A non-denominational Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held on Dec. 24, presented by the Nature Coast Community Church.  Donations of non-perishable food items for We Care Food bank will be accepted in lieu of a monetary donation on this evening.

The Celebration of Lights will reopen for one evening after Christmas on Saturday, Dece. 26, with an After-Christmas party with DJ Joe Dube, starring Elvis (Marcus Held of Panetopia).
