The Citrus County Commission voted 4-1, with Commissioner Ron Kitchen voting no, to OK a deal between the county's fire services division and the city of Inverness to enter into an "Automatic and Mutual Aid Agreement."

County commission Chairman Scott Carnahan said the principle of the agreement had already been vetted by the city, sheriff and Fire Services Chief Jim Goodworth, and that after talking with Goodworth before the commission meeting about the deal, he said he was satisfied with what he had heard.

He took the point in pushing the proposed agreement through the commissioner's meeting, brushing aside a number of concerns by Commissioner Ron Kitchen and some questions about residents of Gospel Island surfaced by Commissioner Brian Coleman, saying all that could be worked out once the agreement was signed.
