Traffic patterns change during Halls River bridge construction

Beginning Tuesday, January 24th, traffic on Halls River Road (CR 490A) will use a single lane to cross the Halls River bridge.

Temporary traffic signals will be used to direct traffic over the bridge.

Motorists in this area should use caution and allow for extra travel time through the work zone as delays are likely. The single-lane traffic pattern is necessary to build the first half of the new bridge. This phase of construction is anticipated to take approximately five months to complete.

Earlier this month, the Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor, Astaldi Construction, began construction on a new 57 foot wide bridge that will be made of state of the art rust-resistant materials and built in the same location as the current 30 foot wide bridge. The wider bridge will feature a 12 foot travel lane in each direction, eight foot shoulders and five foot sidewalks.

The $6.2 Million project is expected to finish in early 2018. For more information on this project, please call 352-848-2600.
