The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed May 9, 2017 as the 100-year anniversary of the General Federation of Woman’s Club of Inverness (GFWC).

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Inverness has been working for the betterment of Citrus County since 1917 and has been responsible for many educational firsts in Citrus County including the establishment of the first library and Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

The club is also responsible for the first local Meals on Wheels program and working on multiple beautification projects for the City of Inverness. Members of the Woman’s Club of Inverness provide annual funding for student scholarships and many educational youth programs, along with support for the homeless and victims of domestic violence.

The GFWC mission and goals will continue to enhance lives in our community in years to come.

The Board of County Commissioners recognizes May 9, 2017 as the 100th anniversary of the General Federation of Woman’s Club of Inverness and encourages all citizens to recognize, applaud and congratulate members of this organization for their volunteer service to Inverness and Citrus County.
