Pleasant Grove Elementary School teacher facing marijuana charges

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday morning arrested a Physical Education teacher at Pleasant Grove Elementary School and charged her with selling and possessing marijuana.

Kimberly Hellenburg, 55, was arrested on active Citrus County arrest warrants, the CCSO said

Voters speak minds at 2016 Primary polling places

The final unofficial results have been posted in Citrus County's 2016 primary races.

Depending on your political viewpoint, there were a couple of surprises.

Beginning with the U.S. Senator races, in which 21,832 total votes were cast, Marco Rubio outdistanced his rivals with 63.78 percent of the votes (13,924). Carlos Beruff was second, with 24.45 percent (5,339). Dwight Young took 8.20 percent (1,790 votes), and Ernie Rivera took in 3.57 percent of the vote (779 votes).

LHS student, 15, shoots himself in front of classmates

A 15-year-old Lecanto High School 9th-grader shot himself in front of classmates. He was transported to a Tampa hospital for treatment.At approximately 10:30 this morning, Citrus County deputies responded to Lecanto High School after receiving reports of shots being fired from within the school.

The CCSO said that it was an isolated incident. That 15-year-old student was airlifted to a Tampa hospital, the CCSO said, and deputies quickly secured the weapon and the school.

Firefighters quench fire in Inverness Middle School

Firefighters were called out to the fire at 1000 Middle School Drive after the fire alarm went off at the school. A fire was located inside the roof of one of the wings of the school.

School bus accident sends driver, four students to hospitals

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Highway Patrol were called to an accident today involving two school buses.
