Search warrant yields meth finds in Inverness

Steven Lockyer, 55, of Inverness

Early this morning, members of the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Tactical Impact Unit (TIU) executed a search warrant at 2187 S. Border Ave in Inverness.

Deputies with the TIU’s Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) Squad received information that the owner of the home, Steven Lockyer, 55, of Inverness, was actively dealing in methamphetamine.

Elderly Inverness woman charged with animal cruelty

A total of 34 cats were taken from this Inverness home, and the owner was charged with animal cruelty. (June 26, 2017)
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Division on Monday charged an elderly Inverness woman with animal cruelty and took her 34 cats.
 
It all started Monday when deputies were dispatched to a house on East Iona Lane after the homeowner, Barbara Smith, 75, called an electrician to do some work on her home.
 
When the electrician came to her house - they refused to do the work due to the unsanitary conditions inside the home, which is when the Sheriff's Office got involved.

Search continues for missing Inverness woman

Carol McHugh, 72, was last seen wearing this walking outfit, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office and several other organizations on Saturday continued the search for 72 year old Carol McHugh from Inverness, who was reported missing on Thursday.
 
Search efforts on Saturday were hampered by severe weather with lightning.
 
From Thursday until Saturday, detectives have pursued every lead that has come in to the Sheriff's Office.

Woman's Club celebrates 100-year anniversary

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed May 9, 2017 as the 100-year anniversary of the General Federation of Woman’s Club of Inverness (GFWC).

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Inverness has been working for the betterment of Citrus County since 1917 and has been responsible for many educational firsts in Citrus County including the establishment of the first library and Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
