County gives green light to RV park development plan

Firefighters battle second blaze in 12-hour period

Citrus County firefighters on Monday battled their second mobile home blaze within a 12-hour period.

The first incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. in Heatherwood, and the most recent one was at 10:57 p.m. at 4289 S. Pencil Point, Homosassa. No one was at home in either structure when fire broke out.


Dunnellon man charged with child abuse of girl, 4

A Dunnellon man was arrested on Friday and charged with abusing a 4-year-old Dunnellon girl.

Arrested was Paul Preston Grenier Jr., 24, of 5328 W. Blade Lane.

According to the arrest report, a Citrus County detective was alerted to the case when shown photos by a Child Protective Investigator. A medical review of the child in Gainesville indicated injuries consistent with child abuse. The young girl said Grenier was the one who hit her, and told two witnesses she had been hit in the face and head.

Firefighters arrive to find mobile home burned to the ground

Citrus County firefighters on Monday were called to the scene of a fire which had already burned down a mobile home.

Firefighters were called out at 11:30 a.m. to 9701 S. Evans Ave. in Heatherwood, only to find a burned-out hulk.

No one was home at the time of the fire, the fire report says. All that is known is that it was a 1,976-square-foot mobile home, and its owners were Greg and Myra Teel. Firefighters found no one inside, and a neighbor confirmed no one was at home when the fire broke out.


Citrus County woman among 55 charged with Internet prostitution solicitation

A Citrus County woman is among 55 people charged with soliciting sex on the Internet by a multi-county task force.

Arrested was Theresa A. Kersey, 43, of 3107 N. Thornapple Terrace, Beverly Hills.

Kersey was issued a notice to appear for solicitation for prostitution.

All arrests were part of a law enforcement operation to catch prostitutes, who use popular websites to advertise services.
