The CCSO says that the monies were raised through fees,  such as those associated with serving civil process or fulfilling public records requests, or from savings realized by conservative measures taken on essentials like fuel consumption.

Specifically, the more-than-a-quarter-of-a-million dollars was garnered from the agency’s general fund ($142,109.55), as well as from its budget component for Judicial Services ($131,499.71).

CCSO sets up Nov. 7 training day for handling emergencies, disasters

On Saturday, Nov. 7, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office will host a dynamic day of community partnership training at its Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 3549 Saunders Way, in Lecanto.

From 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., residents will have a unique opportunity to learn more about how to best prepare and respond to an act of terrorism, a natural disaster or a man-made emergency.

When first responders are overwhelmed by massive disasters, such as 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina, citizens may be left to cope on their own for the first few hours or perhaps even longer.
