Disaster preparedness plans should include pets

There are many ways that you can be prepared to keep your pet safe during an emergency.

County names new Animal Services Director

Citrus County Department of Community Services has named Morgan Woodard as the new Animal Services Director. Woodard will start in his new position on Monday, Oct. 17.
 
Woodward is coming from Hillsborough County as the Pet Services Manager for Hillsborough County Pet Resources, where his responsibilities included front desk operations, volunteers and events management.

Fort Island Gulf Beach Park reopens Oct. 1

The Division of Parks and Recreation is prepared to reopen the Fort Island Gulf Beach on Saturday, Oct. 1.  

The park received extensive damage due to Hurricane Hermine the first weekend of September and has been closed to the public since then.

Residents, businesses: Register for disaster assistance

Homeowners, renters and business owners in Citrus, Dixie, Hernando, Hillsborough, Leon, Levy, Pasco and Pinellas counties who were affected by Hurricane Hermine are urged to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as they may be eligible for disaster assistance.

County passes final 2016-17 budget

The Citrus County Commission on Monday passed the budget for 2016-17 by a 3-2 vote.

Voting against the tentative budget were commissioners Dennis Damato and Scott Adams.

Crystal River Councilman Andy Houston on Monday appeared before the Citrus County Commission calling for equity in law enforcement fees.
