Free mulch available

The Citrus County Division of Solid Waste Management wants to remind everyone that the county has an abundance of Coarse Mulch available for residents, free of charge.

You can obtain it anytime the Central Landfill is open for business, in amounts from the size of a tote, to a tractor-trailer load.

County excceds state recycling goals

For the year 2015, Citrus County exceeded the 50% Florida State interim goal by achieving a recycling rate of 52 percent.

Summer water use doubles

Summer’s rising temperatures often coincide with rising outdoor water use, primarily due to an increase in lawn and landscape watering.

In most communities, the amount of water homeowners use to keep their lawns green or gardens lush spikes in the summer—two to four times as much water than they use the rest of the year!

The Citrus County Commission voted 3-2 to allow part-time county employees to continue receiving insurance benefits until they leave county service.

But part-timers who will follow them won't receive that insurance.
