Florida Baptists offer disaster relief

Florida Baptist Disaster Relief will be offering services throughout the week.

They will be operating out of the First Baptist Church in Crystal River off of Citrus Avenue in Crystal River.

Fort Island Gulf Beach Park closed until further notice

The Fort Island Gulf Beach Park and Boat Ramp has been closed until repairs can be completed from Hurricane Hermine damage.

West Fort Island Trail has been closed just west of the Marine Science Station at the Salt River Bridge.

Closure postings have been placed on West Fort Island Trail just west of U.S. 19, and at the closure location.

Storm Citizen Information Lines close

The Citrus County Citizen Information Lines are now closed. If you need further assistance, call the non-emergency line at #352-726-1121.

Fort Island Beach in Crystal River is badly damaged by Hermine, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said today.

The storm came ashore with fierce winds and heavy rain, knocking down the ramp and pier. The beach will be closed throughout the weekend. County officials will need to check the integrity of the pier to see if they can even repair it.

County emergency agencies assessing storm damage

Crystal River City Hall

Citrus County's Emergency management agencies, county government and cities are assessing the aftermath of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Hermine.

As straggler rain bands pelt the county, the National Weather Service keeps posted a flood watch for the county until tonight, with the promise of widespread showers and thunderstorms.

County roadways were still clogged on Friday morning.

Juveniles caught pushing stolen car at CR mall

A Citrus County deputy today caught four juveniles pushing a car through the Crystal River Mall parking lot.

The car turned out to be reported as stolen from Ocala, the Sheriff's Office said today.
