Dunnellon man sentenced in 2012 Seeger murder

Marrio Demetric Williams, 31, of Dunnellon was found guilty on Wednesday of murder in the first degree in the death of Jamie Seeger in 2012.

He was subsequently sentenced by Judge Ric Howard to life in prison. Two more defendants are involved in this case, but have not yet gone to trial.

Washer sentenced to 50 years

Wayne Washer, 49, of Crystal River, was sentenced to 50 years Department of Corrections collectively, with a 20-year minimum following guilty verdicts from a Sept. 16 jury trial.

Suspect captured after alleged attempted murder

Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives have captured Michael Todd Marcum, 36, of Crystal River, regarding an incident that occurred Sunday morning around 9 a.m. at the B&B RV Park at 5096 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy in Lecanto.

Fort Island Gulf Beach Park reopens Oct. 1

Citrus County Road and Grounds Maintenance crews have been working diligently to complete some additional details such as signage, placing trash cans, sanitizing restrooms, raking of the beach, and building the wall around the septic station to get the Fort Island Gulf Beach Park operational. The Division of Parks and Recreation is prepared to reopen the Fort Island Gulf Beach on Saturday, Oct. 1.  

The park received extensive damage due to Hurricane Hermine the first weekend of September and has been closed to the public since then.
