Traffic Alert: Crystal River crash

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office shortly after midnight on Sunday advised motorists to be on the alert for a single-vehicle crash that occurred on West Ozello Trail near the intersection of South  Winterset Avenue in Crystal River recently.

Springs restoration projects funded for $15 million

Seven springs restoration projects in Citrus and Hernando Counties will receive $12 million in state funding from Legacy Florida through the department's Division of Water Restoration Assistance program. Seven springs restoration projects in Citrus and Hernando counties will receive $12 million in state funding from Legacy Florida through the Southwest Florida Water Management District's Division of Water Restoration Assistance program.

This funding is expected to leverage nearly $3 million in matching funds for a total of $15 million.

The District’s projects are part of 35 springs projects across the state to receive more than $56.6 million included in the 2016-17 “FLORIDA FIRST” budget, the highest amount ever provided for Florida’s springs.

Nuclear asset-recovery bonds issued for Duke Energy Florida LLC

TALLAHASSEE — Citing the lowest rate ever on rate reduction bonds, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) on June 16 authorized the issuance of $1.294 billion in nuclear asset-recovery bonds to cover the retirement costs of  Duke Energy Florida, LLC’s (DEF) Crystal River III (CR3) nuclear power plant.

Halls River bridge getting new tech in makeover

The halls River Bridge on Citrus County Road 490-A is getting a makeover.

As it sits today, it's certainly no spring chicken, having been built in 1954.
