Sword-wielding man stabs woman to death

A gruesome case of apparent rage surfaced on Sunday in Hernando and ended with the murder of a woman and the suspect arrested and charged with the crime.
 
Just before 10:30 on Sunday, Citrus County deputies responded to a home on East Benjamin Street after receiving a call that a woman was being stabbed.

Suspect identified in Sunday's chase, shooting

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday identified the man who was said to have shot at the Sabal Trail pipeline, then fled and was later killed by deputies in Citrus County.
 
The man has been identified as Leroy Marker, 66, of 150 Smallwood Dr., Chokoloskee, Fla.
 
Marker died of his injuries after engaging law enforcement officers and was shot and killed.

Sabal Trail incident leads to chase, suspect's death

Citrus County deputies, Marion county deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol were led on a wild chase from Marion to Citrus County after a man shot at a pipe in the Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline. Protests against the Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline went to another level on Sunday when a man began shooting at the pipes in Marion County, and fled to Citrus County, where he died after being shot.

Robbery at Sunoco gas station in Hernando

Citrus County deputies are actively looking for a man who robbed attacked a clerk at a Sunoco gas state in Hernando and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
The Sheriff's Office said Thursday that just before 8 p.m. deputies responded to a burglar alarm at the gas station located at 1211 N. Florida Ave. in Hernando. 
 
Detectives said a white male walked into the store and threatened the clerk for money. No firearm was brandished, the Sheriff's Office said. There was a struggle between the suspect and clerk.

Another early morning search warrant nets two drug arrests

Citrus County deputies arrested two Hernando residents early Friday morning after a search warrant yielded evidence of  manufacturing meth.
 
Arrested were David Downs, 52, of Hernando and Heather Jacobs, 37, also of Hernando.
 
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office conducted a search warrant at 373 Joshua Court in Hernando after detectives learned the residence was being used to manufacture methamphetamine, the Sheriff's Office said.
