Proposed county budget available online July 15

Citrus County Administrator Randy Oliver will release his proposed budget for Fiscal 2016-17 on Friday, July 15, and citizens will be able to view these documents on the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) website  after noon.


Child advocate volunteers sought

The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program is currently in desperate need of volunteers to be advocates for abused, neglected or abandoned children whose cases are in the court system.


County begins access to Suncoast Parkway 2 interchanges

The Suncoast Parkway 2, which the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announced will begin construction this summer, will have interchange access ramps at both Cardinal Street and State Road 44.


Sheriff's Office issues scam alert

During the past couple of days, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office has had numerous reports of a scam involving a caller who claims to be a Detective with either the Citrus County Jail or the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller is informing potential victims that a loved one has either been arrested or has an outstanding warrant, and to avoid criminal prosecution of their loved one they must send the caller money for a “bond”.

County rolls out 2015 workshop schedule

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners has approved a schedule for public workshops to be held in 2015 in an effort to share more information with the public.

The board identified seven key issues they wish to focus on over the first six months. All of these workshops will be held in Room 100 at the Citrus County Courthouse, located at 110 N. Apopka Ave. in Inverness.
