The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners on April 11 declared April 24 through 28, 2017 as Law Week in Citrus County.
 
Law Week is an occasion of public acknowledgement of our Nation’s heritage of Justice, Liberty and Equality under the law. 
 
Promoting public understanding of the roots of our freedom is an important component in the civic education of the citizens of the United States, and of the citizens of Citrus County.

Commissioner Jimmie T. Smith was invited guest speaker on Thursday at the Rotary Clubs of Citrus County’s Upward Bound program on Thursday. Upward Bound is a partnership between the Rotary Clubs of Citrus County and Citrus County School District.

County to close public recycling centers

The county is closing its public recycling centers.

The only place residents will now have to recycle will be the county landfillat 230 W. Gulf to Lake Highway in Lecanto, which the county said on Thursday will not cost residents a fee to use.

Impact fee moratorium should stay in place

Why does it matter if impact fees are increased?
 
It should matter to you, the blue collar worker, who works hard for your dollar.
 
With impact fees there is always a chain reaction: if you make it more expensive to build here, people will be less likely to come here at all, which would affect the economy of the county greatly, including your family and their potential earnings.
